Grand Inauguration of ACTSSL Annual Academic Sessions 2025 Set to Inspire Excellence
Colombo, January 10, 2025 — The Association of Cardiothoracic and Thoracic Surgeons of Sri Lanka (ACTSSL) will inaugurate its Annual Academic Sessions 2025 with a grand ceremony at the prestigious Grand Ballroom of Waters Edge, Colombo.
The event is scheduled to commence with a ceremonial procession at 6:15 PM, followed by the national anthem and the traditional lighting of the oil lamp. These rituals will symbolize a dedication to knowledge and unity. Dr. Muditha Lansakara, President of ACTSSL, will deliver the welcome address, setting the stage for an evening of inspiration and academic dialogue.
A significant highlight of the evening will be the address by the Chief Guest, Professor David Taggart, an internationally renowned Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery from the University of Oxford, UK. His speech is expected to focus on the latest advancements in cardiovascular surgery and the value of global collaboration in driving innovation.
The Ravi Pillai Memorial Oration will follow, delivered by Dr. Rajeeva Pieris, Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Immediate Past President of ACTSSL. Titled "Quality Assurance of Surgeons (QAS) - A Novel Framework for Assessing and Enhancing Surgical Competence, Attitudes, and Accountability in Surgical Practice," the oration is anticipated to provide groundbreaking insights into the future of surgical excellence.
The evening will also include the presentation of the prestigious 'Lifetime Achievement Award' and Honorary Fellowships, recognizing outstanding contributions to the field of cardiothoracic and thoracic surgery.
Dr. Nalaka Dissanayake, Honorary Secretary of ACTSSL, will deliver the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation for the dedication and support of all contributors and attendees.
The ceremony will conclude with a cultural interlude and reception, providing an opportunity for participants to connect and collaborate in an informal setting.
